INTRO

Unlike to a vessel transporting immeasurable items all around countries, the discharged shipping container appeals certain aspects of the affordable and the reusing construction factor as special modules, when freight containers grounded and sit around empty in a place.

Being a part from that cargo containers are the temporary items being transported over decades, cargo containers have been recently more worthy of notice in building solution, rather than being used in architecture for temporary construction purposes only. Indeed, the public pay more attention on container prerequisites for use as a usable volume of space and a modulated building element defining a spatial boundary. Beyond the limited given layout of container modules, the modular units allow us speculate in a variety of operating in usable volumes and the material adaption of container units for use.

VOLUME STRATEGY

Conventional and horizontal usage into a specific architectural form of the vessel has taken place in many ways (mainly both the horizontal and the vertical adjustment on overground) in which spatial configuration and functional linkage directly adhere to the constrained plan layout.

Alternatively, perpendicular adjustment, to the plane of the horizon in our projected proposal opens up a wide range of spatial solution and provides possibility to actualize the appropriate openness in the modular system of container itself.

Moreover, the vertical strategy of volume used in proposal testified in having more spatial efficiency for planning of vacation house in required indoor space, 250 square meters, and the surrounding topography as well. In general, compared to the horizontal usage required, 28.8 square meters in a container module, and the vertical adjustment on ground needs only 6.24 square meters from that the vertical actualization of container box directly corresponds to site topography with numerous volumes and opens up another approach to get deep spatial ambience in a single unit.

On the given condition, required indoor space, 250 square meters; literately approximately 40 container boxes are available to meet the demands with highly space efficiency calculated. These proposed volumes could create a variety of disposed living space programs and diverse accessibilities with different levels in site and the buildings form a continuous landscape as high line of city with one interior space that incorporates all entities needed to live.

DESIGN ELEMENTS

Starting with the embedded design elements in container, an alternative form of vacation development that we projected could be perfectly utilized for sun light in either a deep ambience effect of volume inside and façade application. The applied on 4 sides (mainly roof and side panel assembly) of a container module have its own material qualities that generate a suitable human occupation in high cube container.

The usage concept of façade the proposal focused on have corresponded to each point of the compass with a certain methodologies; 50% opening of side panel devoted to North and façade of container buildings and living room, unprecedentedly to get more comfortable space in depth, 25% opening of façade adapted to East and West, and the non-penetrated façade, 0% opening dedicated to service programs and etc.

PLAN

As the level differenciation the topography brought about itself, the required programs consistently situated all over the given boundary. In the distributed high cube container, the guest beds are partly allocated for own privacy in case and the main programs of vacation house settled in a firmed network of building consisting of living room, master bed room, home office, walk in pantry and etc.
